Electrical Alliance contractors left their mark of quality on commercial buildings all over the metropolitan Washington, D.C. area last year. By displaying skilled craftsmanship and using the latest technology, contractors earned 39 awards for projects worked on in 2011.
Hard work paid off when The Washington Building Congress (WBC) and the Associated General Contractors (AGC) of Washington, D.C. recognized Electrical Alliance contractors for work on 19 and 20 projects respectively.
The Electrical Alliance, a cooperative effort between the electrical contractors of the Washington, D.C. Chapter of National Electrical Contractors Association (NECA), and the craftsmen of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) Local 26, is known for providing quality services to customers.
Electrical Alliance contractors continuously undergo training of the most up-to-date electrical methods and systems. Contractors’ employees take classes on everything from electric vehicle charger installation to building automation. Because of these wide and comprehensive electrical skill-sets, Electrical Alliance contractors can provide a more efficient, sustainable and higher quality end product to clients.
The WBC presents awards to contractors displaying exceptional workmanship, superior skills and individual effort in projects. Electrical Alliance contractors earned awards in all electrical categories including power generation, distribution and switchgear installations, lighting, telecommunications, and fire alarm systems.
J.E. Richards and Power Solutions collectively received three WBC Star Award nominations, given to projects demonstrating the highest level of quality, and exceeding the awards criteria to achieve a level defined as “exceptional.” J.E. Richards was nominated for one star award in the lighting systems category for their work on the Hamilton in Washington, D.C. Power Solutions was nominated for two star awards in the power generation, distribution and switchgear category for the Undisclosed Customer Data Center Build-Out project in Sterling, Va. and the Undisclosed Data Center in Manassas, Va.
“Ongoing education and extensive hands-on experience for both contractors and electricians deliver a better-trained and better- supervised workforce. This mindset benefits clients by allowing them to have the most advanced electrical systems, ensuring satisfaction, lower costs and timely delivery,” said Andrew Porter, executive director of Washington, D.C. Chapter of NECA.
Electrical Alliance contractors worked on 20 projects receiving a 2011 AGC award including the sustainable, design/build, BIM project and general construction categories. Winners are selected according to the quality of workmanship, project management, owner satisfaction, timeliness and safety.
In addition, Truland Systems Corporation was awarded Best Corporate demonstrates exceptional lighting controls, lighting design, and installation. Safety program and MonaElectric Group received a merit award for Subcontractor of the Year from the AGC.
Porter added, “Safety is at the core of any good contracting company. We are so proud to have one of our contractors recognized in such a crucial aspect of our industry.”
