At the Electrical Alliance, we believe it’s always about the people. Every individual plays an important role in making our cooperative as strong as it is today.
Some members have dedicated long, successful careers to doing just that—and they deserve to be recognized once their career comes to a close. So, on April 27, we hosted a congratulatory luncheon to celebrate hard-working retired members.
Over the decades, these members have been pivotal in building the IBEW Local 26’s reputation, supporting fellow workers, and providing quality projects across Washington, D.C. and beyond.
As they move into their next phase of life, they will continue to receive retirement benefits from IBEW Local 26, which will support them even as they hang up their workwear.
During the event, retirees received service awards and were featured in presentations highlighting their accomplishments and stories. Lunch was served, and fellow members had opportunities to connect, catch up, and reminisce about old times.
“We love seeing IBEW Local 26 give back to retirees,” said Cordelia Evans. “It demonstrates that active workers and officers appreciate the members who have helped pave the pathway to a career in the electrical trade. We want to continue the tradition of celebrating successful careers and the ways that IBEW Local 26 continues to evolve.”
Impressively, several members with 50 years of service or more attended. Three members received 70-year awards, acknowledging a particularly long career of commitment. Awards were also given to cherished members who had passed away.
More than 100 people attended the luncheon, some traveling from the Carolinas and many from Virginia, DC, and Maryland.
Thank you so much to everyone who joined us!
