National Geographic is transforming its Washington, DC Base Camp into an all-new, interactive museum and Electrical Alliance member Perlectric is on the ground making it happen.
The National Geographic Museum of Exploration will combine elements like archives, interactive experiences, a learning launchpad, and more to immerse visitors in the iconic Nat Geo experience.
Here’s what National Geographic says about the project on their website:
“Our new Base Camp will convene global audiences to share in the exciting mission work of National Geographic at the Museum of Exploration. The Museum will be a place like none other, where visitors will come to experience stunning imagery and photography, bold storytelling, and learn about the rich discoveries and expeditions of the past, with a watchful eye to the future and protecting our planet.”
Perlectric is working with Hitt Construction on the project, and the core construction is expected to be completed in January. The official opening will be later in 2026 once the exhibits are fully built.
The facility will include a wide variety of features (which means a vast array of electrical needs), such as an immersive learning theater, grand life-like exhibits, a public eatery, and outdoor “ecosystem” courtyards. This makes it an exciting project for everyone on Perlectric’s team who will get to watch it come to life piece by piece.
We’re proud of Pelectric for being a part of National Geographic’s legendary story!
