The Norman Hill Scholarship is designed to open doors for young people of diverse backgrounds who are passionate about building a career in the construction industry. Created to honor labor leader Norman Hill, the program supports students pursuing Construction Management degrees at Virginia Tech. It’s more than just financial help — it’s about creating opportunity, building a more inclusive workforce, and empowering the next generation of Project Managers and contractor leadership.

Scholarship Details

Funded by Virginia Tech, the Electrical Alliance-Norman Hill scholarship is awarded to students participating in the Construction Engineering Management program.

DEADLINE: Every year on July 30th

Award: Varies based on need

All applicants have access to internships with IBEW Local 26 / WDC NECA signatory contractors

The Norman Hill Scholarship is intended to support construction management students from underrepresented communities at Virginia Tech.

  • Open to undergraduate Myers-Lawson School of Construction students
  • Demonstrated interest in the electrical or general contracting career path
  • Reside in the Washington, D.C., Maryland, or Virginia region

On June 1, IBEW Local 26 is hosting a golf outing On June 1, IBEW Local 26 is hosting a golf outing with five courses to choose from. The day includes a continental breakfast, scramble format with shotgun start, and a banquet and awards ceremony to close it out.

Proceeds benefit Dollars Against Diabetes, a cause that hits close to home for many of our members and their families.
