The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service offices were recently shifted from three buildings in Ballston, VA to a new property in the Skyline Technology Center building in Falls Church, VA thanks in part to the electrical work of J.E. Richards Electric. The renovated space is roughly 225,000 square feet and covers three floors.
Working with highly sophisticated electrical equipment, the project was on a strict schedule that J.E. Richards met with the help of 60 electricians working on the project, usually six days a week at the job’s peak.
Phil Casamento was the project manager for the job. He and his team overcame many challenges, including a demanding completion schedule. There were over 3,500 fixtures featuring 50 different types of fixtures including a variety of LED fixtures (all with very similar appearances, but very different performances).
In addition to highly efficient, energy saving lighting, the project included installation of sensors for daylight harvesting, automated window shading and two electric vehicle chargers, and 135 floor box receptacles.
The renovation, which included all three floors, was completed while ensuring no disruption to the current tenant’s power supply. There are 60 electrical sub meters used to more effectively monitor the building’s energy consumption. J.E. Richards also installed fire and life-safety systems, along with a sophisticated audio system including white noise.
