Long time JATC leader, Rhett Roe has been named the next director of the Joint Apprenticeship and Training Committee (JATC). He took over the position on September 1st. He replaces David McCord who will assume a consulting role into early 2017.
McCord has held the director position for the past 20 years. During that time the JATC has become a nationally recognized electrical apprenticeship program and won the U.S. Department of Labor’s Registered Apprenticeship Trailblazer and Innovation Award.
Roe is a licensed journeyman in Washington, D.C. and Virginia and has been a union member for over 35 years. . He has been assistant director at the JATC since 2006 and prior to that, an instructor for 22 years. Roe is also a member of the International Association of Electrical Inspectors and a member of Code Making panel #8 for the National Fire Protection Association National Electric Code.
The JATC is sponsored by the Electrical Alliance, a cooperative effort between the Washington, D.C. Chapter of National Electrical Contractors Association (NECA) and the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW), Local 26.
