In conjunction with the Joint Apprenticeship Training Committee (JATC) and the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) Local 26 , The Electrical Alliance participated in Big Build 2018 Saturday, October 13, 2018 at The National Building Museum in Washington, D.C.
Children of all ages and their parents were treated to a full day of educational and interactive demonstrations related to the building and construction trade at Big Build 2018. The Electrical Alliance and JATC booth exhibited how a light switch functions, and with the help of eager children, wired an electrical unit and literally turned light bulbs on.
JATC Assistant Director Roy Reeves; Ina Smith, day school instructor; and a team of volunteers were on-site this year to offer demonstrations and answer questions. Volunteers included: Bryce Miller, Cary James, Christian Demonico, Leron Douglas, Akeem Issa, Jeremy Mathis, Luis Llamas, Leon Straus, Justin Wallace and Malik Mahdi.
Big Build is an annual free community event to that introduces young minds and parents to opportunities in trades – a valuable, skilled future career path.
The JATC is sponsored by the Electrical Alliance, a cooperative effort between the Washington, D.C. Chapter of National Electrical Contractors Association (NECA) and the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW), Local 26.
